Music and audiovisual: the future of synchronisation – by Nuovo Imaie
Watch online
Everyone knows that when music is paired with a film or TV series, it is necessary to obtain consent for its use from both the copyright holder (author or music publisher) and the holder of related rights. What not everyone knows, however, is that when the film or TV series is released to the public (on TV, on platforms or on the web), the copyright holder of the music has the right to further remuneration, which derives from the public diffusion of the work.
Some users are instead reluctant to pay the rights holders the compensation that is due to them by law. Yet music often plays a decisive role in the success of a film, so much so that the author of the musical work is one of the 4 co-authors indicated by law. What is the most suitable legal solution and, above all, where is the market for related rights linked to synch heading?

During the meeting, the process of managing metadata with which SCF allows to obtain higher royalty collections will be analysed in depth and the scenario in which the licences issued by SCF allow a better exploitation of record repertoires by operators in the sector will be contextualised.
