RAI, the Italian public service broadcasting company, and SCF, have announced an agreement for the past use of the music repertoire of major and independent record labels and artists represented by SCF, and the related settlement of pending litigation.
The agreement, which covers the entire radio and television spectrum - from generalist and thematic TV and radio channels to the RaiPlay platform - defines all of RAI's uses of the SCF repertoire for the years 2013-2022, with the consequent determination of the royalties due to SCF.
In parallel, RAI and SCF are finalising an additional agreement for the 2023-2024 biennium, further strengthening their commitment to transparent and long-lasting collaboration.
The innovative reporting system based on data exchange - born from the sharing of resources and technical skills between RAI and SCF - will guarantee increasingly precise and timely reporting of music usage, allowing for an adequate distribution of royalties to record producers.
This is a significant step forward in the relationship between RAI and SCF, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to the timeliness and completeness of reporting, both by the RAI group and by SCF.
"I am extremely satisfied with the agreement reached - comments Mariano Fiorito, General Manager of SCF - because in addition to resolving the pending litigation, an important step forward has been taken that marks the beginning of a new era of collaboration between the two companies. The commitment and investments made by the parties in developing an advanced reporting system are a further example of partnership for a fairer and more transparent remuneration of record investments".
"Today's agreement - comments RAI - is a demonstration of RAI's commitment to ensuring adequate and transparent remuneration to all rights holders, with a view to contributing to the support of the entire cultural industry. The adoption of an advanced reporting system represents a best practice that will be an example for the entire sector and confirms the path started by RAI with the signing of the agreements with SIAE in December 2022 and which will continue with further agreements with LEA, Nuovo Imaie and RASI, in order to establish long-lasting, fair and transparent relationships. It also demonstrates RAI's commitment to making use of all the technological tools available today, in line with the most advanced media companies".
