SCF, the leading collecting society for neighbouring rights in Italy, is preparing to face 2025 with a significant reduction of the administration fee from 17% to 15% for the broadcast and web usage, applied to both Italian and foreign record producers.
This is a historic decision for SCF, which not only returns to an administration fee level that has not been seen for ten years, but for the first time it also makes a separation between the broadcast and public performance sections - unlike the main foreign collecting societies - in order to faithfully respond to the needs of the market, measuring more precisely the costs associated with each type of exploitation of the rights and therefore aiming at an optimization of the services offered.
This decision follows the previous reduction implemented in 2024 and aligns with an administration fee value in the very competitive private copying segment (equal to 3%), confirming SCF's commitment in concretely supporting its members and effectively strengthening the music industry.
SCF's General Manager Mariano Fiorito states: "With this new reduction of the administration fees, we reaffirm our commitment to making the music sector more accessible and sustainable: both more efficient management of resources and greater attention to the needs of our producers certainly contribute to the definition of a stronger and more dynamic music industry. This change not only helps producers obtain the right economic return for their work, but it is also an important signal of our approach to optimizing the services provided".
