Signed for new agreement between SCF and RTL 102.5 for the music diffusion in radio and cross-platform

The new agreement for the music diffusion in the multi-platform universe of RTL 102.5 has been signed by the CEO of SCF, Enzo Mazza, and the president of RTL 102.5, Lorenzo Suraci.

The agreement is the first in the sector of national networks, after the entry into force of the Collective Management Societies Directive, which looks at the ongoing innovation in the sector, the importance of radio in the dissemination of music and the economic relevance of the record content for the broadcaster.

An agreement that will allow RTL 102.5 to spread millions of music tracks from more than 46,000 labels represented by SCF, besides the global repertoire of the music industry by virtue of international mandates.

The definition of a multi-platform scheme takes into account the particularities of the broadcaster and the market penetration in our country.

  • Enzo Mazza, CEO of SCF, said: "We are very pleased to have built with RTL 102.5 this innovative license agreement. In the streaming era radio still represents the main segment for music discovery, with 86% of music consumers (IFPI Consumer Report 2018) using the radio to access music, versus 61% of streaming audio. In this context, music is also a strategic element for radio and in the agreement with RTL 102.5 we have translated the respective needs of the two sectors into an articulated model that satisfies both and recognizes the economic value of the rights”.
  • Lorenzo Suraci, president of RTL 102.5, said: "We are very pleased with this agreement: it proves the commitment of RTL 102.5 to invest continuously in the radio industry. We confirm a new and closer partnership between SCF, the main Italian collecting society in the management of related rights, and RTL 102.5, the most listened to radio in Italy, which has always aimed for the enhancement of Italian music and creativity. Synergies of this magnitude make a significant contribution not only to the growth and development of radio and discographic sectors, but to the entire cultural industry, a strategic sector for the revitalization of the national system”.
