SCF: positive results registered in the first half of 2024

Up both revenues and distributions

SCF, which is the leading distribution company of performance rights in Italy, on the occasion of the approval of the 2023 Transparency Report and its related Audit Report, announced a particularly positive performance for the first half of 2024.

The trend of the distributions to the phonographic producers in the first half of 2024 marks a growth of 3%: while the Broadcasting and Web area records +30% compared to 2023 values, the entire Public Performance segment records a significant growth by 8.4% compared to the first half of 2023. Private Copy fell by 17%, due to the physiological reduction in revenues and to a mix of factors: from the natural decline in the device market at the end of Covid to an unforeseen tariff revision, from the DM exemption and refunds effect (which had a particular impact on PCs) to the decrease in Newsstand Private Copy.

The amount of costs went down by 6% compared to 2023: this is a forecast in line with the budget which has allowed further investment in technical resources.

Furthermore, the number of bilateral agreements is growing (Australia, India and Peru for performance rights and Croatia also for private copy; for a total of 31 existing reciprocity agreements) and mandates, which are 541 in total in a favored context by a decrease in the fee, now equal to 17%.

With over 25 million songs in the SCF catalogue, there are 1286 analytical reports for 2023: it is a number in line with recent years, witnessing an effort increasingly oriented towards the creation of an ecosystem capable of streamlining the conflict resolution procedure - especially those useful for playlists and film works - thanks to the new dedicated area in Katalegale. It is no coincidence that the RDX platform - for which, moreover, an expansion of features for producers is expected - has recorded an important flow of repertoires, activating new clients.

"We are happy with the results obtained in the first half of 2024, in line with what was achieved in 2023" comments Mariano Fiorito, SCF General Director. "The growth in revenues in the Broadcasting and Web sector as well as in Public Performance, in addition to the increase in bilateral agreements and mandates, is a clear signal of the trust placed in our constant commitment and ability to adapt to constantly evolving market dynamics".
